Mother, 29, is found dead
A woman has been found dead at her home on a Shropshire housing estate, sparking a major police operation today.
The body of the woman, believed to be a 29-year-old mother-of-three, was discovered at a property in Woollam Road in Arleston, Wellington, last night.
Detectives today said they have launched an investigation and said a man is being questioned at Telford police station.
Police sealed off the house at 10.30pm yesterday, while officers and paramedics were inside the property.
Neighbours and residents in the area spoke of their shock at the death today.
Kate Tonge, spokeswoman for West Mercia police, said: "Police at Telford have launched an investigation following the discovery of a body at Arleston, Telford.
"Yesterday evening police responded to information received and attended an address in Arleston, Telford where the body of a woman was found.
"The coroner has been informed and a man has been detained and will be questioned about the matter."
Two police officers remained near the property today and part of the street was sealed off with police tape. A police van was also parked on the street.
Karen Porter, who lives on Woollam Road, said she saw the police arrive last night but did not know what had happened.
She said: "Police were here all of last night - I first became aware of it at about 11pm.
"I looked out of my window and saw three police cars and an ambulance and the road was blocked off after that."
Another neighbour, who did not want to be named, said: "I was sat in my bedroom last night and my daughter came running in to say there was police everywhere.
"I saw police and paramedics go into the house and they were there for ages. I wouldn't like to think about what has happened."
The neighbour said she knew the couple who lived in the house.
"I speak to them both. My sister spoke to the guy who lives there yesterday," she added.
