I find it alarming that millions of dodgy pounds can be donated to the three main parties with little noise or action from the Electoral Commission yet, mention donations of £360,000 to UKIP and the commission arrives with all guns blazing.

It has taken the decision to apply for the forfeiture of these donations, saying they were impermissible because the donor, Mr Alan Brown, was not on the electoral register between December 2004 and January 2006.

Surely such a crime deserves life imprisonment? The European Union has stated quite openly and on many occasions that political parties who do not support the European Union should not be recognised and should not receive financial assistance - here is the British Electoral Commission doing the Union's dirty work.

This records a new low in the British political scene. Carry on if you can UKIP - you are obviously doing something right.
