Concern is growing following the disappearance of a Whitchurch man who failed to turn up at work on Monday.Police have issued an appeal to trace Max Matthew Piggott, 21, who is missing from home and they are asking for him to get in touch with his family urgently.

Officers have said his family are upset and extremely concerned over his disappearance and are desperate to hear from him.

The police said the catering assistant was last seen on Monday morning when it is thought he left home in Queensway between 7am and 9am to go to work at Whitchurch Hospital but he failed to report in.

Police Constable Andy Gill, of Whitchurch police, said: "It is completely out of character for Max to go missing. His family are worried sick about him.

"I would also appeal to anyone who has seen Max since Monday morning or knows of his whereabouts to notify the police at Whitchurch."

He said Mr Piggott was about 5ft 10ins tall, of thin build with short brown hair.
