TV viewers were missing out on their Saturday morning shows today - because of the good weather in Shropshire.

Many people in the area were unable to receive BBC1 and were experiencing problems with the signal from the mast on top of The Wrekin.

A spokeswoman for the corporation said the issue was down to the high temperatures and particularly high pressure.

She said the problems, which could potentially affect any channel, were first reported at 3.30am and continuing into the late morning.

National Grid Wireless, which operates the mast, was unavailable for comment. The transmitter serves Shropshire and some parts of the Black Country.

High pressure has been known to interfere with its signal in the past.

Temperatures this weekend are predicted to soar to highs of 25C (77F) as Shropshire and Mid Wales continue to enjoy a scorching spring.
