The competition followed a week of workshops of ballet, tap, musical theatre, jazz, lyrical and singing, including a performance at Disneyland.

Abigail, the youngest of the 31 members of the Sharon Ann team, hopes her international success could be the start of a glittering career.

Proud mother Heather Grice said: "Abigail started dancing when she was two and really loves it. She's been with Sharon to perform at the Royal Albert Hall in London, and twice at Disneyland Paris.

"Her little sister Isobel, four, is already dancing as well and is a member of Sharon's Snowflake cheerleading team."

She added: "I would like to thank all the sponsors who helped with the cost including regulars and the two football teams at the Albion Inn, St Georges."

Mrs Grice said Abigail, a pupil at St Georges CE Primary School, also enjoyed karate and cheerleading but her first love was the stage.

"She would love to go into dancing and acting when she grows up, especially musical theatre."
