The Church Stretton School Under-16 Girls' Team headed to play a team from the west country in the Schools Cup Final this afternoon.
The match, at Manchester City FC's City Of Manchester Stadium, will be attended by hundreds of Shropshire children who left Church Stretton this morning on coaches.
John Allin, head at Church Stretton School, said: "It is organised by the English Schools Football Association, in association with the RAF.
"It is a tremendous accolade for the school."
Mr Allin paid tribute to the team's manager, Ralph Davies, who holds regular coaching sessions and helped the girls to success two years ago.
He said: "Ralph and the girls have been together for many years, that's why they are so good. There is great teamwork."
