Fatal crash bus driver released
A bus driver arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving following a fatal collision at Walsall bus station has been released on bail without charge.
Today police spokeswoman Zoe Coward said the man has been released on bail pending further inquiries.
Pedestrian Jean Crump suffered fatal injuries when she was involved in the incident involving a 360 Arriva single decker. The 65-year-old, of Lime Avenue, Bentley, was airlifted by helicopter to Selly Oak Hospital but died the same day.
The Arriva driver is based at the firm's depot in Bridgtown, Cannock.
Today it emerged that Arriva has launched an internal investigation into an accident involving two of its other buses.
An accident happened in the yard of Arriva's depot, off Delta Way, on Thursday night when a bus collided with another.
Keith Myatt, spokesman for Arriva, said: "I can confirm there was an accident where one of the buses, on moving around the yard, collided with another bus. A full and thorough investigation is being carried out."
In Monday's accident two cars, a van and a Travel West Midlands bus were also involved. A 59-year-old woman is still in hospital.
