Police are investigating a string of break-ins at the town near Wolverhampton in which property worth hundreds of pounds were stolen.

Attempts were also made to gain entry to another two houses.

Det Con Chris Thomas, of Shifnal police, said the incidents were probably linked and had taken place during the past fortnight.

He said: "It has been an intensive spate of burglaries. There have been 10 sheds burgled since last Thursday and it is likely the same people are responsible for all the offences. We are carrying out investigations including house to house inquiries but we are anxious to receive any information from the public which might help us."

He said the crimes had centred around Pickwick Court, Aston Road, Greenfield Crescent, Orchard Road and Beech Drive and had been carried out at night.

Thieves forced their way into locked sheds to steal lawn mowers, strimmers, fishing tackle, cycles and tool boxes. In one of the house burglaries, a car was stolen but was later recovered by police in Shifnal.

Witnesses are asked to call 08457 444 888.
