A 27-year-old mother was attacked in an alleyway as she walked with her young son in Telford, police said today.
The woman was walking down the alley from Marshbrook Way to Muxton Primary School, in Muxton, with her one-year-old son, when the man struck at 12.15pm yesterday.
Police said the victim was approached from behind by a man who, having passed her, turned and attempted to indecently assault her.
Chris Ammonds, spokesman for Telford police, said the child was not hurt.
He said: "Although the victim managed to defend herself and push the man away, she stumbled and fell into her son. Fortunately her son was unhurt.
"The offender then made off in the direction of the main road."
The attacker is described as being white, in his late 20s, about 5ft 6ins tall and of medium build.
He is thought to have fairly long, brown or mousey hair and was wearing a pair of light blue baggy jeans and a cream coloured, round neck woollen jumper.
It is also believed that he had travelled to and from the area in a silver car.
