Thrilled at interest in centre

Re: Hadley Learning Centre. I was thrilled today to see this excellent facility on morning TV. I had not realised that it had achieved international fame, with experts coming from far and wide to view and learn.

I'm glad that this huge investment of time by members of the borough and their offices over many years were able to bring it all together and to make it an excellent resource for the whole community for 360-plus days and evenings each year.

Long may it prosper for the benefit of all. May we never forget all who were involved in forcing the heavy odds that were against its coming to fruition.

We must not let those who have only more recently come to the table, take all the kudos, when others did the hard work that will benefit other community centre schools all over the world, as they develop based on the example and lessons learnt here in our borough.

The huge cost is terrifying, but in the long term it should be a financial success. But more than that - a community builder aiding the social as well as educational development of all who use the facilities.
