A man was today arrested in connection with a hit and run accident in Shropshire in which a motorcyclist was killed.

The man, from the West Midlands, was arrested following the fatal collision on the A458 at Mose near the crossroads leading to Claverley and Quatt just after 12pm on Sunday.

He was arrested this morning on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving, failing to stop after a collision and failing to report a collision.

He is currently at Shrewsbury police station being interviewed.

Motorcyclist Anthony Craig Hick, aged 59, of Cradley Heath, West Midlands, died in the collision with a BMW 3 series car which drove off without stopping.

Sergeant Keith Field, of Bridgnorth Police, said the car, which is a metallic grey blue or silvery blue colour, is still outstanding.

He said: "We are very anxious to recover this vehicle and I would urge anyone with information which might assist, to please contact the incident room at Bridgnorth police station on 08457-444-888.

"I am very grateful for the tremendous response from the public to our appeals to date. We have received information about sightings of the BMW on the A442 near Hampton Loade and Alveley travelling towards Kidderminster following the collision.

"We are now anxious to trace this car and to establish where it has been kept. In particular, we need to know where it was parked overnight on Sunday."

*A cyclist who died after his bike struck a wall at Bridgnorth throwing him down an embankment was also named today.

Stanley Clive Jewkes, 59, of Shelfield, Walsall, was thrown about 40ft over the wall and down a bank onto Underhill Street when he failed to take a left hand bend just before 2.30pm on Saturday.
