Father on bowling club photo

Mrs Linda Jones has a very special personal interest in this photo which she emailed in to us - her father is on it. It shows Castlefields Bowling Club, Shrewsbury, in 1947.

Her father Walter Thomas, then aged 18, is back row, fourth from right. As it happens, there are three other Thomases on the photo - brothers Arthur, Ern, and Dick Thomas - but they were not related to her father.

Mrs Jones names the bowlers as: back row Arthur Thomas, Ern Thomas, Bill "Yam" Owen, George Dowley, Hubert Birch, Walter Thomas, Tom Jarvis, Les Howells, Bill Twyford. Front: Harry Rowlands, Frank Beardsmore, Mr T Morris (president), Harry Lyons, Len Stokes, and Dick Thomas.
