Will Gehlen, who e-mailed us this photo of "Pentre, Churchstoke", says he is a regular reader of the Shropshire Star from Telford. Nothing unusual about that, you might think, until you realise he is from Telford in Tennessee, America.

"Our Telford here received the name from a Robert Telford, who was a Revolutionary War Colonel," says Will.

"Afterwards he settled here and named the town Telford. He opened an iron foundry.

"Telford here is in east Tennessee near the Smoky Mountains and four miles west of Jonesborough, the oldest town in Tennessee that was, for a while, home to president Andrew Jackson and the Alamo hero Davy Crockett. Population about 800 - so not a big city."

Mr Gehlen says he would be interested to know when the Pentre photo was taken. On first sight, it looks to be from about 1910.
