Hotel scheme on car park site
A new 20-bedroom hotel could be built next to a Shropshire pub if councillors give the go-ahead.
A new 20-bedroom hotel could be built next to a Shropshire pub if councillors give the go-ahead.
The hotel is set to be built next to the Clock Tower pub in Donnington, Telford.
The Whitbread Group, which owns the pub, has applied for planning permission to Telford and Wrekin Council.
The proposal includes plans to alter the existing car park and also includes associated landscaping.
The Clock Tower's general manager Nicola Holland said the hotel would be built on the pub's car park. She said: "The pub will remain open and the staff here are very excited about the plans."
Cheshire-based Cliff Walsingham and Company is acting as planning consultants for the application.
The pub was known as the Clock Tower Brewers Fayre until it underwent a £350,000 revamp in October last year when it was renamed The Clock Tower.
The refurbishment created six jobs and included new lounge areas.
