A Shropshire man today told how confronted a hooded raider who had broken into his shop.

Ds Sidhu, owner of High Ercall shop and Post Office, discovered the burglar in the cash room of the shop at 4.45am on Saturday.

He was part of a gang of four thieves, three of whom had already fled with £1,000.

The gang had smashed the back door to get in during the early morning raid.

Mr Sidhu said: "When I opened the door there was one man inside and then he ran as well. There were four of them altogether.

"They smashed the door to get in which will cost about £300 to repair.

"I couldn't see their faces because it was still dark but they had hoods on."
