A Telford conman who was jailed after he lied about winning £4.5million on the lottery was at the centre of a police search today.

Charles Roger Proctor, of Trench, was last seen in Wiltshire.

He was jailed for 16 months in October 2006 after he conned staff at the town's HSBC bank into letting him open an account claiming he had won millions on the National Lottery. He admitted three charges of obtaining services by deception and 12 charges of obtaining property by deception.

The 44-year-old left his partner's family home in Wiltshire at about 12.15am on December 28 telling them he was going to Cumbria.

He left the address in a black Ford Focus - DV57 FLB.

Mr Proctor is described as being white, around 6ft 3ins tall, of large build and with short mousey brown hair. He has blue eyes, tattoos on his upper arms and back and speaks with a Cumbrian accent. Constable Maurice Wright said: "Anyone who believes they may know of Mr Proctor's whereabouts, is asked to contact officers on 08457 444 888."
