Detectives investigating an armed robbery at a Bridgnorth post office today appealed for a man seen near the building at the time of the raid to come forward.
The man was stood alone on the pavement across the road from Low Town Post Office when armed robbers held it up at 9.15am on Friday.
Police today said they wanted to speak to the man urgently to establish whether he was involved in the crime or was merely a passer-by.
Detective Sergeant Steve Fitzpatrick said: "We are anxious to trace him so he can be eliminated from the inquiry.
"He might also have important information to assist the investigation. We have no idea who he is, whether a member of the public, or possibly one of the offenders."
The man is described as white, youthful looking probably aged in his late teens or early twenties. He is about 5ft 7ins, of slim build and wearing light coloured denim jeans.
Several shots were fired inside the post office during the raid but no-one was hurt when a man armed with a handgun threatened a member of staff. He left empty-handed before making off in a light coloured getaway car containing one or possibly two accomplices.
Mr Fitzpatrick urged any other motorists who spotted a vehicle being driven in a dangerous or erratic fashion just after 9.15am to get in touch.
Detectives are also keen to speak to the driver of a bright red car - possibly a Peugeot 206 or 307 - which was almost struck by the getaway vehicle as it drove off along St Johns Street.
