Residents of Telford & Wrekin may not be surprised to know that Shrewsbury and Atcham MP Mr Kawczynski had something to say in the House of Commons about the threatened closure of rural Shropshire schools.

They will be surprised, to say the least, by what he said.

Hansard reports that at Prime Minister's Question Time on January 30 the last sentence of a question submitted to Gordon Brown by Mr Kawczynski was as follows:

"When will the Prime Minister give fairer funding to rural shire counties such as mine to sustain rural schools, and not pour money into Telford? Why should Telford have £200 more than Shrewsbury?"

Will Mark Pritchard, MP for The Wrekin and Mr Kawczynski's party and parliamentary colleague, confirm that he will be having words with Mr Kawczynski about his request to the PM and will he tell us what he will be saying to him?
