Elizabeth Jade ColeyA Shrewsbury youngster is celebrating her second birthday today - even though she is actually eight.

Elizabeth Jade Coley, was born in the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital on February 29, 2000, making her a millennium leap year baby.

It is only the second birthday she has celebrated on her actual date of birth.

Elizabeth normally marks her birthday on February 28, but this year she will be able to have a party with her family on the actual day. And it was an extra special start to the day for Elizabeth as she won a competition on the Severn radio station to be taken to school in a limousine with four of her friends.

The Grange Junior School pupil will then enjoy her birthday celebrations with her mum and dad Trudy and Steven, 11-year-old sister Charlotte and other relatives including aunts and uncles.

Her mum said: "She's very lucky because she's won the Severn Radio competition to have a limo ride to school.

"That was a very special start to the day for her. We will have a family party tonight when she gets home."

Trudy said leap years were extra special as they meant the family could actually celebrate on her birthday.

She said: "It's more exciting and there's quite a buzz about it when it's on the real day. It makes you want to celebrate it a bit more really."
