Severn Trent spokeswoman Grace Marren said 126 homes outside Leebotwood had been affected. Supplies were restored by 6.30am today. She said: "The burst water main has been repaired now so everyone has water. "A total of 126 homes were without water for seven hours but it was mainly through the night. "We worked as fast as we could through the night to make sure the water was back on as soon as possible this morning. "The burst was in Church Stretton on the A49. We first received calls of no supply at 11.30pm last night. "We investigated and found there was a burst main which was why people had no supply and we sent out a team to investigate and repair it. The water came back on in stages over a period of a couple of hours."Leebotwood Parish Council chairman Derek Barkley said Severn Trent had put up traffic lights on the A49 while the water main was repaired.
He said: "It was just outside Leebotwood. The lads were working through the night. It was right on the side of the A49 and they had to put in a new piece of piping. It burst the main water service that goes through to Church Stretton."
He said the traffic lights were due to be taken away this morning.
Peter Nutting, Shropshire county councillor for Leebotwood, said: "Obviously it's a concern. It's unfortunate but I'm sure Severn Trent did the best they could to get everyone back on in the circumstances."
