A 17-year-old youth who fractured his skull in an accident near Bridgnorth is in a critical but stable condition, it was revealed today.

The accident occurred on the A41 at Rectory Road, between Albrighton and Cosford, at about 9.15pm on Thursday.

One of the casualties, a 17-year-old youth, was taken to the Princess Royal Hospital in Telford with multiple injuries including a fractured skull.

Police revealed today that his condition was critical but stable. He was transferred to the intensive care unit at Hope Hospital, Manchester, last week.

He was the driver of a blue Peugeot 306 involved in the collision with a blue Mazda.

The front seat passenger in the Peugeot, also aged 17, was admitted to the Princess Royal with a head injury.

The other driver, a man in his twenties, was also taken to hospital with a broken leg.

A police spokesman said today: "Our last condition update was on Saturday where the youth was described as being in a critical but stable condition."

The Peugeot had been driven along Rectory Road towards the A41 and the Mazda was travelling along the A41 towards Wolverhampton when the collision happened.
