Talks begin to solve problem of Post OfficeA Shrewsbury post office which closed last week after the temporary post master stood down, could still be saved as talks get underway to find a solution, say post office bosses.

The Castlefields Post Office had escaped closure earlier in the year and an interim post master was appointed until along term master could be found.

But campaigners have spoken of their shock at the closure last Thursday, just days after the announcement was made.

The closures leaves the Castlefields and Ditherington areas without a post office, after the Ditherington branch was closed as part of nationwide cuts by Post Office Ltd.

Richard Hall, a spokesman for Post Office Ltd, today said: "Our efforts to reopen Castlefields branch are ongoing.

"We're hoping to have them concluded as soon as we possibly can. We are still hopeful to get it resolved."

Alan Mosley, Shropshire County Councillor representing Castlefields, said: "They are working on it urgently and hopefully it will be open in the very near future."
