Victim 'killed protecting his mother'
A man shot dead at his family home in Tividale died protecting his mother, tributes have revealed. He was named today by police as 23-year-old Scott Buchanan.
A man shot dead at his family home in Tividale died protecting his mother, tributes have revealed. He was named today by police as 23-year-old Scott Buchanan.
The Callaghan Drive house was still cordoned off this afternoon following Wednesday's attack.
A post mortem confirmed he died of gunshot wounds.
Tributes have been pouring in to social networking website Facebook where a page has been set up "in loving memory of Scott Errol Buchanan". Today it had 365 members.
His mother Carol Buchanan wrote: "My Jim Bob (Scott). Broken hearted, I am writing this to let you all know my hero son died protecting his mom from the murderers, he could have took the time to defend his self, but came to protect me from the attackers. xxx."
Friend Neil Bagley, said: "Scott died protecting those he loved and will be remembered for the hero he was and always will be," while friend Em Scanlan wrote: "Scott was so brave standing up and protecting you, it's a horrible injustice he's been taken from us."
Scott was discovered by police after reports of an argument shortly after 10pm last Wednesday.
A woman in her late 40s was inside the house and was treated for a head injury.
