Mobility scooter stolen

A 70-year-old Shropshire man, who is practically housebound without his mobility scooter, has made a desperate plea for its return after it was stolen.

Brian Cox, of Cleobury Mortimer, suffered a stroke 10 years ago and relies on his scooter to get around.

Mr Cox said he went to play bingo at Cleobury Sports and Social Club in Love Lane on Monday and left his scooter parked and locked. But when he came to leave he found it had been taken.

The red Pride electric scooter, which has a canopy more than 5ft in height, was stolen between 7.30pm and 9.30pm.

Mr Cox today said: "I'm lost without it, I'm not very good at walking. Everyone in the town is looking for it but nobody has seen it.

"I can't really go out without it. I play dominoes in the village and it's been parked outside pubs for ages and no-one has ever touched it.

"I had a stroke 10 years ago, which effected my whole left side. My truck is much needed. If anyone knows anything please get in touch either with me on (01299) 270393, or with the police."

A police spokeswoman said: "This theft has left a man practically housebound as he relies almost totally on the scooter to get out and about.

"If anybody has any information as to who might have taken it or saw anybody acting suspiciously in the area when it was stolen, please could they contact police on 0300 333 3000."
