Robert James Gaunt, from Overton, near Ellesmere, suffered head injuries and multiple fractures when he was allegedly hit by two cars in the village last Thursday.

He died at Alderhey Hospital in Liverpool on Saturday.

A North Wales police spokeswoman said David James Lunn was charged on Monday night with causing Robert's death while using an insured vehicle.

Lunn, of Moorland Avenue, Queens Park, Wrexham, was also charged with causing the nine-year-old's death while driving otherwise than in accordance with a licence.

He is further charged with failing to stop and failing to report an accident, driving without a licence, perverting the course of justice, and two offences of driving without insurance.

He was due to appear at Mold Magistrates Court on Tuesday.
