An inquest was today opened on a 63-year-old Shropshire Olympian who was hit by a train at a county level crossing.
Cyclist Jonnie Woodall MBE died on April 3 in Eyton Lane, Baschurch, shortly before 9pm.
The coroner for mid and north Shropshire, Mr John Ellery, adjourned the inquest for inquiries to be continued.
Mr Woodall, from Mytton, near Montford Bridge, competed in three consecutive Winter Olympics in the luge and bobsleigh.
He was described by friends as a "perfect gentleman".
