Yes, an up-to-date play area is needed. I take my grandchildren to the park on a regular basis so I'm not opposed to that, it's the location that the council has taken that is so upsetting.

Five trees are being felled in the chosen area – and at least three of those trees have nesting birds.

Shame on you Telford & Wrekin Council. It seems as though you just can't wait to destroy this area of natural beauty. The first tree was felled on May 28, another two the next day.

Surely these trees should not be felled until the end of June when nesting is finished.

Maybe the councillors concerned close their eyes when they walk around the car park next to this area; they don't see the potholes and poor surface quality of the car park.

Or the graffiti-clad recycling bins strewn across at least six parking places – badly needed when parents and grandparents collect their children from school. What a mess.

Who makes these decisions? What's the betting that the brainchild of this shambles doesn't live very near to the spot for which they are supposed to care.
