Hospital releases house fire boy

A nine-year-old boy who was rescued from a house fire in Telford has been discharged from hospital.

Jack Partington, a pupil at Apley Wood Primary School, was allowed home yesterday. His sister Regan, six, who was also rescued, was allowed home last week.

The pair suffered smoke inhalation after a blaze ripped through their home in Sunderland Drive, Leegomery, last Tuesday.

Their mother, Andrea Partington, 34, remained in a critical condition in hospital today after suffering serious burns.

Her boyfriend, Adrian Hemming, 37, died from his injuries the day after the blaze.

Mrs Partington, Mr Hemming and Regan were all rescued by neighbours who smashed their way into the house, while Jack was rescued by firefighters.

It is believed the youngsters are being cared for by their father, Stephen Partington, who has travelled from Bristol to be with them as their mother recovers.

Chris Ammonds, spokesman for Telford police, said: "The boy who was involved in the house fire has been discharged from hospital and is being cared for by relatives.

"The woman injured in the fire remains in the same condition – critical but stable – in hospital. The police investigation is still continuing."

Detectives have previously said they were keeping an "open mind" as to the cause of the blaze.
