Ken Dodd brought his famous Happiness Show to Shrewsbury's Theatre Severn - and treated his fans to a real marathon of mirth.

The showbiz star, who is known for his Herculean stand-up routines which frequently run into the early hours, did not disappoint as the audience was kept entertained late into the night.

The sell-out show has proved so successful Doddy has added a second night tonight to keep his fans happy.

Last night's show saw the funnyman run through some of his classic routines and also turn his attention to local issues.

Horticulturist Margaret Thrower became a willing prop during the 81-year-old's show, and Doddy even gave the audience a few thoughts about the north Shropshire town of Wem.

Doddy treated the audience to a rendition of his biggest hit Tears, which still occupies a place in the top 10 best-selling records of all time.
