Yobs have torched three benches and daubed graffiti over a £120,000 bandstand in a Black Country park.

Keepers of Brunswick Park in Wednesbury have also reported that intruders are sleeping in the bushes overnight and leaving drinks bottles strewn around.

Residents have called for a CCTV camera which can keep rotate 360 degrees and watch over the park.

Olwen Jones, aged 57, who was last month made chairwoman of a new residents' group for people living near Brunswick Park, said it was part of a string of thuggish incidents blighting the town. She added: "Someone has tagged the bandstand all over. It cost £120,000 in 2005 but now it has to have more work done to put it right. There is going to be £60,000 spent here on a play area and we don't want anything to happen to that."

She said that three benches that were meant to be fire resistant had been removed after being left as burned wreckage.

"We have been told by the park keepers that there are people sleeping in the bushes.

"We have seen the whisky and the vodka bottles that have been left behind."
