Jasmeet Kaur, of Glendinning Way, Madeley, was a passenger in a car travelling on the West Berkshire stretch of the M4 when it was involved in a collision with a lorry.

Her family today paid tribute to 14-year-old Jasmeet, whom they described as a "normal, happy teenager".

A statement issued on behalf of the whole family, said: "The parents of Jasmeet would like to express their deep appreciation to the many people who have offered their heartfelt wishes, support and messages of condolence.

"Jasmeet was the youngest of our children and a normal happy teenager enjoying life.

"In particular she had a keen interest in music and was taking extra lessons out of school for the clarinet.

"Her funeral was held on August 15 at Telford Crematorium followed by an extended service at the Sikh Temple."

The crash happened just after 6am on August 2 and despite the efforts of paramedics, Jasmeet died at the scene.

Friends have set up a page on social networking site Facebook called In Memory of our Dear Jasmeet.

Tributes have poured in for the popular teenager on the site, with Gagan Singh Johal, writing: "RIP Jasmeet may Waheguru bless your soul."

Kamal Preet Kaur wrote: "Jasmeet it was really hard to see you go yesterday. I pray to Waheguru that you're happy in Waheguru's embrace.

"You'll be dearly loves and missed."

Before the funeral, which was attended by hundreds of friends and family, a memorial service for the teenager took place on August 14 at the Guru Nanak Gurdwara in Hadley.

Police are still continuing their investigations into the crash.

The driver of the car, a man in his 20s, was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and has been released on police bail until September 23.

Mr Peter Bedford, coroner for Berkshire, said an inquest is to be held at a later date.
