People from Whitchurch, Prees and the surrounding area can have their say on their community this week.

Whitchurch and Prees Local Joint Committee will meet at Adderley Village Hall at 7pm on Wednesday.

The committee is made up of members of Shropshire Council and a parish councillor from Adderley, Moreton Say, Tilstock, Ash and Ightfield parish councils and Whitchurch Town Council.

The committee has a budget for this financial year of £50,000.

The cash is available to fund projects that offer benefits to the community.

Councillor Gerald Dakin, chairman of the Whitchurch and Prees LJC, encouraged residents to attend the meeting to help shape their community.

He said: "The aim of this committee is to give local people a voice and work together to determine how funding will be spent in their towns and villages.

"The LJC will give residents an opportunity to air any concerns or issues and receive support to make a difference.

"We are fortunate in Whitchurch and Prees that our local Police and Communities Together (Pact) forms an integral part of the meeting.

"This allows us to hear what issues the police have at a local level, and together we discuss and agree practical solutions."

Whitchurch and Prees LJC developed from a pilot initiative that operated in 2008. From this pilot, funding was given to a number of initiatives.
