Knife-wielding robber, 24, is sent to prison

A knife-wielding 24-year-old Telford man who admitted robbing a man of a motorbike worth £1,000 was jailed for three years and 10 months at Shrewsbury Crown Court.

Shaun McCambridge, of Sutton Hill, had previously admitted robbing Samuel Harris of a Yamaha bike and keys on July 18 in Hills Lane Drive, Telford, possessing an offensive weapon, namely a six inch kitchen knife, and breaching an Asbo.

Ms Lisa Hancox, prosecuting yesterday, said McCambridge approached his victim while he was sat in a car close to where the bike was parked.

She said he brandished the blade and demanded the keys to the bike from Mr Harris, who was eating a takeaway in the car with friends.

McCambridge warned another member of the group he would stab them "in the face" if he didn't get the keys, she added.

Mr Stephen Cadwaladr, for McCambridge, said: "Although the weapon was brandished it was not held close to the victim or used to harm anyone."

Judge Simon Tonking jailed McCambridge for three years and 10 months.

He also handed McCambridge 12 months for the offensive weapon, six months for breaching the Asbo and two months for breaching a community order - all to run concurrently.
