Tesco, EllesmereLetter: Do we need additional supermarkets in Oswestry? I think not.

I think we should put the building of new supermarkets in the area on hold. Let's see what Tesco does to the town of Ellesmere.

Maybe if we could concentrate on the filling of the empty shops in our town we would be better off all round and a nicer sight for all.

Wal-Mart arrived in America and desolated towns, we don't want that.

We want our town to be a busy, bustling area in which to enjoy shopping and entertainment.

In large vacant areas in Oswestry, like Willow Street, we should be encouraging the building of town houses, which in turn would bring in the young and old to utilise local amenities, shops and schools.

We need to maintain our market town; it needs to be a pleasant, pretty town.

Do we really need another supermarket?

Let's put it on hold for three years. There is no hurry. Better that than risking the destruction of our town.
