Four-vehicle crash causes traffic delay

Rush-hour traffic faced delays today when a four-car crash caused problems for motorists in Shrewsbury. Police, fire and ambulance personnel were called to Roman Road, in the Kingsland area of the town, at about 8.30am. Fire crews were only needed to make the vehicles safe and left the scene by 9am. A spokeswoman from the ambulance service said two ambulances were sent to the scene just after 8.30am. She said there were some "walking wounded" who were checked over at the scene but nobody required hospital treatment.

In Telford, a Land Rover crashed into the wall on the boundary of Holy Trinity Church in Hadley. A section of the wall was destroyed and the 4x4 damaged.

A car overturned on the Welshpool bypass causing the road to be closed for nearly two hours. Police were called at 12.43pm on Saturday after reports an MG MGF had overturned on the A483 at Welshpool. Police today said only one vehicle was involved.

One man was taken to the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital. His injuries were not believed to be life-threatening.
