A kind-hearted Shropshire youngster has collected and donated dozens of toys to give to children less fortunate than himself.

Cameron Davies, four, wrote to several companies across the county asking for toys for him to donate to children's charities in the area.

Cameron, of Leegomery, Telford, is a Shrewsbury Town supporter and he managed to enlist the help of the club's players to give the presents out to poorly children.

In a bid to put smiles on faces of fellow youngsters across Shropshire, he wrote to shops across the county, who sent him dozens of toys to donate.

His mother, Amanda, 35, said she is proud of what her son, who goes to Apley Wood Primary School, has done.

She said: "He has been working so hard contacting and collecting toy donations from many kind people, local firms and retailers, including an overwhelming response from Asda, Boots, Ace Martial Arts and many more.

"He even gained the backing of Shrewsbury Town FC who kindly agreed to wrap each gift and deliver them to Hope House and the local children's wards in Telford, Shrewsbury and Oswestry this week.

"We are so proud of him and everybody has been saying well done to him. He is really pleased to have helped his favourite football club help children less fortunate than him."

Mrs Davies said it all began when Cameron was reading an article with his dad on the Shrewsbury Town website stating the club would be taking gifts to hospitals in the county.

She said: "He began getting quite emotional when he realised that not all children were as fortunate as him and he started to talk about ways of how he could help the children who would not be able to be at home with their families this Christmas, who may be in pain and who maybe will not receive any gifts at all.

"He then decided that he would help the team out by doing his bit to recruit as many presents as possible so that as many children as possible have a merry Christmas.

"We took the presents to Shrewsbury Town and they wrapped them all up nice ready to take to the hospitals."
