Shropshire newly-weds John and Ruth Suckling enjoyed a live DJ set by Radio 1 presenter Greg James at their wedding reception after a cheeky request turned into reality.
The DJ agreed to play for free at the Telford couple's reception last night at Rowton Castle Hotel, near Shrewsbury, after John, 31, suggested it during a chat on Greg's afternoon radio show.
True to his word, 24-year-old Greg turned up last night to entertain guests at the wedding reception.
The delighted groom, from Brookside, Telford, said: "It's unbelievable. I never thought he would go through with it.
"To put himself out like that is incredible.
"He is such a nice guy and it has made a special day even more special."
Bride Ruth, 33, said: "It has been a fantastic day and to have Greg James here as well makes it just brilliant.
"It is such a thoughtful thing for him to have done," she added.
The Radio 1 DJ got into the party mood by joining in the applause as John and Ruth took to the floor for their first dance as a married couple to the sounds of Time of My Life from the movie Dirty Dancing.
Just before he took to the decks for a one-hour slot, the DJ, who was accompanied to Shropshire by two of his Radio 1 producers, said: "I am delighted to be here.
"They are such a nice couple that I just thought why not?
"If you don't ask you don't get. I have never played at a wedding before so this is a first for me. I have to say this must be the classiest place I have ever played.
"I am just so pleased to be here and be part of this special day."
The couple's family members were just as pleased to see the top DJ.
Ruth's mum Rosemary said: "What he has done is amazing. I am so pleased he made it up here.
"Johnno and Ruth are the king and queen for the day and they deserve this. It could not have happened to a nicer couple."
