Officers have been searching for James "Jimmy" Stevens for just over a week after he breached a condition of his prison release licence to live in Worcester.

Police believe he could have travelled to Bridgnorth, where he is originally from and where he has relatives.

The 52-year-old, who also has relatives in Telford, was jailed for eight years in 2004 for attempted armed robbery with a sawn-off shotgun in Madeley Stores.

The public has been warned not to approach him.

Porcha Treanor, West Mercia police press officer, said today: "Officers are following up a number of lines of inquiry.

"There is a strong suggestion he is in the Bridgnorth area. We would like to appeal for anyone with information to contact us."

Stevens, who was released from prison in January, has got a pony tail.

Anyone with information should contact police on 0300 333 3000 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
