All aboard transport show

A holiday on the buses was just one of the attractions on offer as the Midlands Festival of Transport proved at big draw to Weston Park.

The famous festival, which has been running at the venue near Shifnal for more than 25 years, regularly attracts thousands of enthusiasts and this year has been no different.

More than 3,000 descended on the park yesterday for the launch of the show and even more were expected today as the weather continued to be kind to the organisers.

There was something for everyone at the event, with a host of displays in the main arena and vehicles of all types and ages.

Classic car clubs were again well in evidence, with iconic makes such as Jaguar, Lotus, Porsche, MG and Triumph all among the 60 represented.

Some of the vehicles on show dated back as far as 90 years.

For the high-flyers among the crowds there were also huge World War Two aero engines on display.

Youngsters were also well catered for, with a funfair at Weston, as well as inflatables.

Weston spokeswoman Andrea Webster said weather forecasts had put a dampener on expectations, but the rain held off to add to the crowds.

She said: "We were lucky with the weather yesterday and have been again today.
