Council pothole busters are ignoring a crater-riddled road in Telford despite repeated calls to carry out repairs, it was claimed today.
Pensioner Alan Crossland said he had lived in Athol Drive, St Georges, 43 years and to his knowledge it had never been resurfaced. He said he had contacted Telford & Wrekin Council repeatedly in an effort to get the potholes filled in but claimed his calls had so far gone unanswered.
Mr Crossland said: "I have been trying to get the council out to fix them for three weeks.
"There is a small hole developing near my house but there are more down in the Oakengates direction and some could really cause damage to cars.
"The alternative to damaging your car is to carefully swerve round the potholes but doing that could result in an accident with vehicles coming the other way.
"I know the winter weather has not helped the pothole situation but the road was this bad well before that. My road just seems to be totally ignored for reasons I can't understand."
Telford & Wrekin Council revealed last month that its pothole-busting team filled in more than 10,000 craters in Telford's weather-beaten roads in just eight weeks.
A council spokesman said: "Officers have made efforts to meet Mr Crossland to discuss his concerns, but without success.
"We now plan to visit him during our next inspection of Athol Drive, which is imminent. Athol Drive has been identified for patching work but the extent of the repairs will be dictated by the results of the inspection."
