A Shropshire museum is celebrating after ing a silver award for having an "exceptional impact" on tourism.

Blists Hill Victorian Town, in the Ironbridge Gorge, won the award in the Large Visitor Attraction category last night at a ceremony in Brighton organised by Heart of England. The Enjoy England Awards for Excellence are the highest accolade for visitor attractions in the country.

The award is presented to places with more than 100,000 visitors a year that, in the eye of the judges, go the extra mile to ensure every visitor has an unforgettable experience.

Barrie Williams, chairman of the Ironbridge Gorge Museum Trust, said: "I am thrilled all of the hard work of the staff, trustees, volunteers and the local community has been recognised."
