Convicted Shropshire conman David Oakley, who lied to dishonestly obtain more than £350,000 in mortgages and loans, has been jailed for a further three-and-a-half years.

The 63-year-old is already serving a three-year-and-nine-month term for fraudulently running three travel firms almost 10 years ago.

Amanda Oakley, 51, who had admitted her part in one of the mortgage frauds dating back eight years, was given a six-month suspended prison sentence.

At Wolverhampton Crown Court today Judge Nicholas Webb described David Oakley as a "practised fraudster" and that he had been the dominant partner and provided the false documents which were "sophisticated forgeries".

David Oakley was told that the fresh sentence would run from today. The court heard David and Amanda Oakley, formerly of Salters Lane, Shrewsbury, had conspired to make false claims about her employment to secure a substantial mortgage and loans between 2002 and 2004.
