Man dies after being hit by car

A man died after he was struck by a car while walking on a bypass near Shropshire. The 45-year-old man, from Froncysyllte, had been walking along the Wrexham bypass when the incident happened.

A man died after he was struck by a car while walking on a bypass near Shropshire. The 45-year-old man, from Froncysyllte, had been walking along the Wrexham bypass when the incident happened.

Police today named the pedestrian as Gwilym Rhys Jones, from Froncysyllte, near Llangollen.

Officers have appealed for witnesses to contact them to help with their investigation into his death on the A483 at Rhostyllen near Wrexham at about 11pm on Sunday.

The incident happened on the southbound side of the dual carriageway.

The southbound side of the road was closed for several hours following the incident as police investigators worked at the scene. Local diversions were set up.

A spokesman for North Wales Police said: "Police are appealing for witnesses and information following the death of a male pedestrian after a road traffic collision on the A483 at Rhostyllen."
