A motorcyclist who died in a collision on the A49 near Whitchurch was today named by police as Edward Allan Fouracre.

The 46-yeard-old, of Orrell, near Wigan in Lancashire, died after losing control of his red Honda VFR 750 while riding on the A49 at Hinton shortly before 8pm on Thursday, June 24.

Mr Fouracre suffered serious multiple injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

He is believed to have been travelling from Cheshire and crashed into a grass verge. No other vehicle was involved.

Police spokesman Richard Ewels said a post mortem had been held and an inquest is due to be opened over the next few days by the coroner for Mid and North Shropshire, Mr John Ellery.

After hearing evidence of identification, the inquest will be adjourned to a later date.

Police were forced to close the A49 at the junction of the B5476 and Bradley Green Road for several hours while they carried out investigations at the site following the incident.
