Shropshire golfer Will Jones will have two Open champions - with seven titles between them - for company at St Andrews tomorrow.

Jones, the Shropshire & Herefordshire Boys champion, has a job as a scoreboard holder at the Open this week.

And he has landed a plum draw tomorrow as he will accompany five-times champion Tom Watson, twice winner Padraig Harrington and rising Japanese star Ryo Ishikawa for their second rounds at the Home of Golf at 2.31pm.

Speaking before the draw was made, Llanfair Caereinion-based scratch golfer Jones said: "The dream would be to carry the scoreboard for a group with Tiger Woods, Phil Mickelson or Tom Watson."

Legend Watson has won five Opens and came within an eight foot putt of a remarkable sixth success at the age of 59 at Turnberry last year, while Harrington claimed victory in back-to-back Opens in 2007 and 2008.

The first scoreboard assignment for Jones, who is 18 and plays out of Oswestry, came in today's opening round when he joined the 11.52am group of South African Louis Oosthuizen, America's Jeff Overton and Colm Moriarty of Ireland.
