Petitions have been posted around Craven Arms asking residents whether they want to see alcohol enforcement zones introduced to combat anti-social behaviour.

The leaflets have been distributed in shops and the community centre in Craven Arms by local police to canvass public opinion on how to deal with incidents such as vandalism and littering.

Members of the public have been invited to have their say ahead of the next meeting of Craven Arms Town Council on August 31, to be held at the Craven Arms Community Centre from 7.30pm

Councillors will discuss the issue with police officers before deciding whether to send a request for enforcement zones to Shropshire Council.

Incidents of drink-fuelled anti-social behaviour have been recorded on Corvedale Road and a number of other locations in the town, while vandalism has also been reported at the town's railway station.

Clive Leworthy, town council chairman, said it would need to be determined whether to have one zone for the whole town or a number of smaller enforcement areas for individual streets.
