Mr Ivison, who had worked at the plant for eight years, died shortly afterwards at the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital.
Richard Ewels, spokes-man for West Mercia Police, said an inquest was due to open later today at the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital on 57-year-old Mr Ivison.
The coroner for Mid and North Shropshire, John Ellery, is expected to open the inquest for identification purposes and adjourn it to allow the Health & Safety Executive investigation to continue.
Mr Ewels said that they were continuing to assist the HSE with its investigations.
Yesterday the company said the entire workforce had been left devastated by the tragedy.
Mr Ivison's family was too upset to talk about the incident yesterday.
Dermot Sterne, managing director at Stadco, had said the tool operator's death had left everybody shocked. He said it was "absolutely tragic" and their thoughts were with his family.
He had added Stadco was focussing on exactly what happened and any lessons to be learned.
