Police discovered a small amount of a Class A drug - believed to be amphetamine - being stored in a freezer and also seized a number of firearms and a quantity of ammunition. Officers are now trying to establish whether the guns are legally owned.

A team of 15 officers burst into a property in Holyhead Road, Oakengates, at 8am today following a tip-off.

Police discovered a small amount of a Class A drug - believed to be amphetamine - being stored in a freezer and also seized a number of firearms and a quantity of ammunition.

Officers are now trying to establish whether the guns are legally owned.

Three men - aged 59, 36 and 26 - have been arrested on suspicion of possessing a controlled drug and were today in custody being questioned by police.

Sergeant Rebecca Bishop said: "This operation was a real team effort involving 15 officers from a number of teams."

She said it was the fourth warrant police had executed in the last month and the raids were all connected to Crimestoppers tip-offs.

"We would encourage anyone who has any concerns regarding drug crimes - or criminality of any sort - to call us immediately."
