Vandals went on a wrecking spree across six Shropshire villages after they drove around throwing rocks, bricks and even household jars and bottles at cars and homes.
The "mindless" attacks caused thousands of pounds worth of damage to vehicles and two houses in the villages near Shrewsbury, police said.
Constable Jon Summerfield, who is investigating, today said officers were following up a number of lines of inquiry, including the sighting of a silver car, similar to a Ford Focus, in Pontesbury, from which the passenger threw a brick at a car.
Between about 10pm on Thursday and 6am yesterday, at least six cars in Minsterley, Pontesbury, Lea Cross, Cressage and Cound had bodywork damaged and windows smashed by the vandals. A house in Pulverbatch and another in Pontesbury both had window panes damaged.
Witnesses are urged to contact police on 0300 333 3000.
