A new water bottling plant could be created near Whitchurch if plans get the go-ahead from council officials.
Proposals involve creating a building for the abstraction and bottling of water after a new source was discovered in woodland at Bowling Bank Farm, Broughton.
The scheme, which has been submitted to Wrexham County Borough Council, is set to supply up to 20 cubic metres of water a day for people in the region.
The site has been the subject of a water borehole prognosis by the British Geological Survey which found that a sustainable water supply would be available from a borehole of up to 70 metres.
In a report on behalf of the applicant, it says: "The proposal is intended to be a small scale rural diversification project which will lead to the creation of up to six jobs. At full capacity, output is estimated at one lorry load per day.
"The process will not give rise to noise or any other nuisance and the process will be contained entirely within the building.
"The nearest residential property is approximately 40m away from the proposed building."
The site is currently managed under a Forestry Commission Wales Woodland Management Plan with the aim of creating a healthier woodland.
